Church – No Church

13 05 2009

Hopefully many of us have daily contact with those who do not attend church.  Have you ever wondered what they are really thinking?  Let’s face it – what people think becomes their reality, and although we may not deserve all those images, some of their thoughts about church and church attenders may be accurate.

We want to encourage you to help start conversations and lead people to start thinking about how to bridge this divide between us and them.  Do you know why those around you don’t attend church?  Perhaps today is the day we will find out. Take the poll and then share your ideas (comments) about how we might bridge this divide.

Distractions

13 05 2009

dis-trac-tion

[di-strak-shuh n]

-noun

1.  the act of distracting.

2.  the state of being distracted.

3.  that which distracts, divides the attention, or prevents concentration.

4.  that which amuses, entertains, or diverts.

5.  division or disorder.

Distractions.  We all have …sorry, the phone rang.  We all have…oops, had to return a text.  We all have…man, I’m hungry, wonder what’s for lunch? As I was saying, we all have them and allow them to intersect our daily lives in different degrees.

As Christians, our task is to be effective agents of spiritual transformation in people’s lives, whatever that may cost in time, comfort, or image.  Yet we have to realize that if the enormous number of Christians in this country has not achieved the level of positive influence hoped for, it’s not the fault of a skeptical culture.

So here’s the question for the day:

What is the biggest single DISTRACTION that is keeping you from fully serving God in the way you desire?

We invite you to share a comment.

New Community Groups Begin!

13 04 2009

Community groups are smaller environments designed to reflect the friendly and inviting feel of a Sunday morning Nazdome experience.  Community groups are for everyone of every age, and are the place where people share life together.  These groups are formed around common interests that people have with others who may attend the Nazdome, or who are friends from the community.  Some common interests include the following:

  • photography
  • cars/automotive
  • scapbooking
  • outdoors: fishing/hunting
  • hip hop
  • quilting
  • planes / aviation
  • music
  • art
  • sports
  • computers
  • technology

As we begin new groups in the weeks ahead, what common interests would you like to recommend?  What are the common interests that you and your friends have?  Leave a comment with your recommendation.  Check back here to see the most recommended common interest group ideas, and for ways that you can become a part of these groups.
